The King's Own Border Regt was based at Keighley Barracks in Wuppertal
Germany from 04/62 to 03/63.
The photos are of the Signals Platoon of 1st KOBR. Its UK HQ is at The Castle Carlisle in Cumbria with recruiting in Cumbria and N Lancashire.
During 1962/64, The KOBR was the senior regt in the Lancashire
Brigade in the UK. It was formed from the merger of The 1st Bat
King's Own Royal Regt
[Lancs] and the 1st Bat The Border Regt on 1/10/59.
Two TA bats were linked to this regular regiment:
4th Bat The Border Regt [Westmorland] and the 4/5th Bats [formed
1961] KORR.
The TA regts were in the 42nd [Lancs] Div TA and I think they
carried 43 on red with the 42nd badge on their vehicles.

Photos 1 to 3 are of 05 BE 43.
This Champ chassis WN1-543 entered service on
17/9/52 under RV: CBR/R/3519 with engine 2788. It was S/O in BAOR
on 31/10/63.
I think the vehicle is ex 4th Infantry Division [BAOR]. The lack
of markings is typical of 1960's BAOR. Note the tow chain, the
little flag on the
windscreen, the camouflage net tied to hood, the fact that this
is a Cargo
Champ and is fitted with a radio set FFR which the manuals say
was not done !!
The bridge plate is painted green and the use [in 1960's] of
ex WWII
trailers !!

4: I can't see any 7 on my photo. This is a FFR Champ, note the
cable
along body side to front wing aerial tuning unit. The BAOR windscreen
mounted
trafficators and the canvas seat [?] on the top of the bonnet.
Photo 5: Mixture of Larkspur and
19 set: Yes it did happen, this also shows
the wooden rear seat backrest used in the FFR Champs.
Photo 6 & 7: This is a FV 1801
A iii Cable Layer [see 44 BE 20] The 1 mile
drum of d10 cable and hoodsticks removed with trailer stowed for
exercise
with jerrycans, cable drums etc... The mixed tyres is normal !!
The white
painted mudflaps.
