Steve Marshall got this photo from a Mr. Brian Hemsley at his church. With great affection, he recounted his days in 16para. This shot is of the Duke of Edinburgh reviewing the troops, at Aldershot.

The photos also shows ex WWII Trailers 1/2 ton two wheeled being towed by the Champs and some Trucks 3 ton
4x4 GS Commer Q4.

The 1st Airborne Division was disbanded in Egypt in 1948. The 2nd Parachute
Brigade was moved to BAOR and became the 16th Independent Parachute Brigade
Group. the numbers 1 & 6 were to remember the old WWII 1st and 6th Airborne
Divisions. The 63rd Parachute Company Royal Army Service Corps [RASC] was
the the transport section of the brigade. It was made up of the following:

 

Personnel: 350, of which 50% are parachutists.

Movements:
Nov 1949 to UK, 6/51 to Cyprus, 10/51 to Suez Canal Zone, 1954 to UK, 8/56 to
Cyprus, 11/56 to Suez, 12/56 to Cyprus then UK, 7/58 to Jordan, 10/58 to UK.

In 1965 the RASC became the Royal Corps of Transport [RCT] and 63 Coy RASC
became 63 Squadron RCT. the 16th Ind Para Bgd Group was disbanded on the 1st
April 1977.
