945 WOO. Last Change of Keeper 12/06/81. 3 Keepers since May 1978. MOT certificates available; Body Generally good , good tub. Wings front and rear solid rust underneath but not really wasted . Engine compartment and bulkhead in good condition. Front inner wings good no holes rusted to outside nut solid. Bonnet and grill good no dents, grill gauze good. Inner Screen rusted out at lower corners will need replacing, glass good and screen top rail good, rubber seals missing / poor. Dash complete but loose on tray no fixing mounts or rubbers. Both side tub panels look as though the have had sill replacements and the line is not true and straight, flaring out a little. Inner sills have suffered somewhat and need work. The rear offside foot-well and floor is OK but the other three floors require attention the nearside being the worst with the battery box bottom being badly wasted. A complete new nearside floor will be required from Malcom Scott. Battery is a single unit housed under drivers seat. Rear light Turrets are square and good, surprisingly for a late vehicle there are trumpet rear lights fitted. Petrol tank cover good as are rear body panels. Only offside mirror arm present. Front bumper is not in evidence a steel RSJ with swept back ends is loose awaiting fitting. No rear seat tray or folding back plate. Seat covers are post service and don’t fit convincingly and are wrong colour. Seats themselves OK. Hood is canvas , Post Service possibly R & R Services, the door sections are there and the side-screen sections are fitted but without any frames, the canvas is dusty but looks in fair condition. The interior rear body is generally sound. All duck boards are there. Box of some small loose bits including the rifle clips and a brand new front brake Hose in R&R package. Spare dash and instruments complete plus another one in pieces. Jerry Can holder, two jerry cans, several gallons of HP80/90 gear oil. Mark 1 /2 distribution box in pieces. No Pioneer tools or jack or starting handle. Steering works fine and appears positive. Steering wheel is rough. 1981 bill shows nearside inner and outer track rod ends worn and repaired for MOT. All brakes except nearside front appear seized, hadbrake in off position. Brake pipes will probably need complete renewal. Bill for 1978 shows new front brake linings and front cylinder kits. Gear box and FWD levers operate OK. Forward reverse lever is stuck in reverse and I can’t move it. The front axle appears to turn Ok when nearside front wheel is turned. The engine has the upper parts painted BMC green and the lower parts in Sky Blue 101. The plug and HT leads are all in good condition with screening in place and little or no fraying. Spark Plugs are in the holes. The engine was not able to be turned over by pulling on the fan blades though the fan itself moved slightly on it’s clutch. Radiator appears good but no water in it. No silencer or exhaust fitted beyond down-pipe, a couple of miscellaneous none standard silencers loose.. Twin speed Dynamo, Mk 2 distribution box and junction box all in correct positions. Air Filter has a modification (presumably post service) but fairly professionally done. There is what appears to be an additional air induction valve that admits air after the oil bath and this is operated from a simple Bowden cable push-pull arrangement that passes through the bulkhead to a knob in the Drivers side shelf area. There is a vacuum / performance meter fitted on a board affixed to the drivers side shelf behind the steering wheel the indicator switch is also fitted to the board and the screen wash pump. The Horn cover has a hole in the front face to allow the horn to be operated whilst the switch is covered by the cover cap. The horn is complete but the bracket bent. Headlight glasses complete and unbroken. There are five Brand new Deestone 750 x 16 tyres fitted to the rims. These still have the red lining around and have never touched a road. On blocks in a dry garage where it has been for around 23 years. It is very dusty but the paintwork is good. There is no sign of any in service badges under the paintwork. The Ident. plates look to be correct and undisturbed. No repairs listed. Registration document available though it has not been registered for at least 23 years. The vehicle is eminently restorable and is the latest production vehicle found that is in the UK. Only one later one is known to exist and that is in France. The lady says she has had the number plate valued at around £1000.00 but this may have lapsed and or not be transferable. I have said to her that she may be better retaining the number plate and selling it separately to make the Champ more saleable. Body number 13118 |
