in Guiseley, West Yorkshire until Oct 2007. David contacted the Register
in 2007: "I bought my Champ in Newcastle some 16/17 years ,
whilst I was living there, ago as a wreck - baby blue in colour with Ford
Escort seats - over the years the restoration has been delayed by careers, kids,
time & money - all in conflict at some time.. But I persevered - the seats
came from a farm in Alnwick ( the only think recognisable at a farm were the 2
seats and the louvres on the bonnet . a new diff came from Liverpool, the rear
seat tray from West Wittering, but the major problem has always been a fuel
flow - it would run for 5 mins and die. After numerous experts , fuel pumps,
carb kits , scars on head from brick walls etc etc i would get frustrated and
nearly sold it a couple of times - but I was determined to finish it and just
over a year ago at a dinner party someone actually suggest the petrol - I was
a last going to drain the tank in case of dirt anyway as a last resort - so I
drained the tank and found the petrol had almost turned to varnish - cleaned the
tank , flushed the system and filled with fresh petrol - it started first time -
couldnt believe it - of the all the simple things - but I had never heard of
petrol going off before - so its now MOT'd new seat covers , radio fitted and
its now fun rather than an albatross Now living in Guiseley , West Yorkshire plans are for a new hood and fitting the small ancillary stuff |
