| History: |
I am 43 years old and since 1981 have had an Austin Champ numbered WN1 5478. I have spent 3 years restoring it.? Except for the Air Cleaner Stack pipe my car is in its original condition (i.e. has all its original parts). In 1981 there were 4 roadworthy Austin Champs in Germany; today I probably own the last of these. In 1982 I went to England to purchase spare parts and realised that there was unfortunately a minimum of interest there in Austin Champs. I rejoiced all the more, therefore, when I found your (web) page early this year and realised that there are people in Australia who are interested in Austin Champs and who drive them. I've attached some photos from my Champ and would love to remain in contact with you. Bernd brought 54 BE 78 to the Champ Camp at Kemble, England in 2008. John Mastrangelo spotted various holes and fittings on the vehicle expected for an Ambulance conversion. Later, John was able to confirm from the Ledgers "This was an ambulance modified under EMER D 577 Mod 60 [20/2/61] with Ex WWII Truck 1/4 Ton 4x4 GS Willys/Ford Carter Type Stretcher Gear." |
