The restoration of WN1 2696

The markings are from no earlier than 1961 because new
Division numbers were issued in 1961 and the 48th [South Midlands] Infantry
The number 44 on red [your Champ] was issued on 23/11/62 for use by the second infantry battalion in the senior infantry brigade of a Territorial Army Infantry Division.

2696 had been sitting in a shed for 7 years at the home of champman John Mole of Victoria Australia before I bought it. He had bought it from the large number imported by car dealer Bill Patterson
When I bought this Austin Champ in 1977 it was almost complete. I then stripped it down and over the next two years I slowly rebuilt it.

All the rust was killed in a complete bare metal stripdown. All major body parts were removed and the small amount of rust that was present was treated.
