| History: |
Paul contacted the Register in July 2009: "Non-runner at moment. I will restore when time permits, intend to put back to
civi life spec complete with mini car/van roof & doors & recovery jib on
the rear. Known the vehicle for 20 plus years so an element of a dream come true
I suppose." WN1-1287 was purchased from a West Cumbrian Garage
near Silloth by a Kirkby Stephen Garage in the early 1960's.
It is believed that it was demobbed in Scotland. It was purchased
for spares with another one number unknown now scrapped. At this
time 1287 appeared to be almost new but had been in an accident.
When the other champ rusted away it was repaired and served until
the garage ceased to trade (owner retired) in 1991. It was fitted
with a modified mini-van roof and doors, very well done, painted
gloss blue, with a hand jib in the rear. Engine number was 1468. Was MR F H JACKSON SINCE 1964 . |
